Dan McAteer
Mr. Dan McAteer is a recognized expert in port and airport security. His experiences include working for the Coastal Fuels Marine Terminals and TransMontaigne Transportation Services. In this capacity, McAteer conducted physical security assessments of existing perimeter barriers and fencing, detection and intrusion systems and alarms, lighting, surveillance and CCTV systems, access control systems and procedures, security hardware, structures, glazing, and threats to or from adjacent property and assets. The assessment included examination of existing security operations and crisis management plans, including personnel selection, training, and supervision as well as staffing, duties and responsibilities, standard operating procedures, interviews with site management, and a symposium for site management personnel, senior company management, law enforcement, port and emergency response personnel. A comprehensive report was developed recommending major security upgrades.
For the Port Everglades security improvements project, McAteer led the security requirements coordination with the Port and over 400 tenants, performed security and threat analysis, surveyed the 2.5 mile land perimeter and over 2 miles of docks and waterside areas, designed a new security operations center, implemented security upgrades and new systems, and managed the IT construction and installation. McAteer worked with the team to design new traffic patterns and toll both style traffic/security control and introduced new motion detection technology that solved critical security detection and monitoring issues.
